NEHA Green Book

89 at the University of Pittsburgh and the University of Colorado identified the areas of greatest deficiencies and therefore, of the greatest need for study materials. Eighteen subjects were recommended for development of Self-Paced Learning Modules; 14 were completed in August 1982 at the end of the contract period.

NEHA's Self-Paced Learning Modules

Those Self-Paced Modules have been successful in fulfilling the mission of the Bureau of Health Manpower - reaching the local environmental health practitioner.

NEHA Marketing

Since September 1982, a total of9,587 Self-Paced Leaming Modules have been sold. Between October 1982 and March 1985, County governments were the leading buyers. In 1985, the picture on buyers changed rather dramatically, and individuals are now the leading buyers and users. States where the most orders have originated are California (which more than doubles any other state in sales); Texas, Florida, Ohio, Massachusetts, Illinois, Arizona, New York and Connecticut.

Additional Modules

In 1984, the Bureau of Health Manpower, recognizing that NEHA had indeed marketed the 14 modules in the manner they had planned, awarded NEHA a "sole source purchase order" for the production of three more modules on the subjects of highest demand and national concern: Hazardous Materials, Toxicology, and Radia tion. The first two of these modules were completed in December 1985. The third "new" module, Radiation in the Human Environment, was published in January 1987.
