The Council maintained a debt with HOAC; however, with substantial personal contributions from several Council members, the debt was paid in full by the Council at no expense to NEHA. The National Council on Continuing Education in Environmental Health has seen less in the way of applications for review than had been envisioned when it was chartered; however, under current chairman, Richard K. Rowe, the purpose of the Council is being reviewed and the activities it has engaged in are being measured against the charter. The future will be determined after the evaluation. Continuing Education in Environmental Health is vital to the programs that exist today and the new areas that are becoming important in protection of the public health. It is believed that the Council can play a leading role in the future professional develop ment of environmental health practitioners.
