SPOTLIGHT ON NEHA RESOURCES: OUR CP-FS STUDY MATERIALS
Professionals who hold our Certified Professional–Food Safety (CP-FS) credential are often employed in any retail food environ- ment as a quality assurance or quality control manager, facility manager, food-safe chemical supplier, or in a more traditional food safety position, such as a regulatory inspector or investigator. CP-FS holders can conduct facility plan reviews, evaluate hazard analysis critical control point (HACCP) plans or other risk-based food safety programs, identify the causes and prevention of food- borne illnesses, and analyze and implement sanitation standard operating procedures for safety and e ectiveness. The new exam for our CP-FS credential was launched on June 1, 2025. We periodically update our exams to ensure they reflect cur- rent professional practices. Further, we aim to refresh our exams every 5 years to maintain accuracy and relevance. Study Materials to Help You Earn Your CP-FS We are proud to o er a suite of materials to help you study for and obtain the CP-FS. You can access course content in three ways: 1) the online review course (self-paced), 2) the virtual course (instruc- tor-led), and 3) via self-study with print and electronic materials. Review Course The CP-FS: Principles and Applications of Food Safety Science course was developed by industry experts from across the coun- try. It was recently updated to align with the National Curricu- lum Standards from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for knowledge, skills, and abilities required for an advanced-level food safety professional. The course was also updated to the FDA 2022 Food Code (plus Supplement). This course provides the food safety knowledge and skills neces- sary to ensure safe food in any retail environment and is applicable in a variety of roles including quality assurance or quality control man- agers, auditors, food establishment supervisors and managers, own- ers and operators, regulatory inspectors and investigators, and anyone looking to elevate their knowledge of food safety to the next level. The course also includes a practice exam that will help candi- dates prepare for the CP-FS credential exam. The course is o ered in a self-paced or instructor-led format. Print and Electronic Study Materials The Certified Professional–Food Safety: Principles and Applications of Food Safety Science is your essential guide to mastering complex food safety science concepts. Whether you work in the retail food industry, processing and manufacturing, or in a regulatory capac- ity, this guide provides the advanced knowledge and skills neces- sary to ensure safe food in any environment. The new 5th edition has been updated to the 2022 FDA Food Code and updated to correspond to the competencies of the National Cur- riculum Standards for Food Protection Professionals. It has been com-
prehensively reviewed for accuracy and relevance by our subject mat- ter experts. A new section about the product approach to HACCP for specialized processes has been added and the chapter on food defense has been revised. We have also added two new appendices: one with information about the FDA 2022 Food Code changes and another with a tool to help establishments develop a food defense plan. Recom- mended resources for additional study have also been updated. The e-book version of the study guide is available for Android or Apple users. In addition to all the same content as the paper- back version, the e-book is searchable and contains links within the book to easily navigate through the content. Links to external resources can also be found in the e-book version. The content is the same as the paperback and must be purchased separately. And don’t forget our CP-FS flash cards—o ered in print and electronically. We o er flash cards (now with pictures!) to quiz you about the information presented in the CP-FS credential exam. We have reviewed the flash cards to make sure they have the most up-to-date information and categorized them so you can focus on studying the topics you need the most. The online flash cards can be accessed on a desktop or mobile device. Study the cards as many times as you want with only a click—no paper required.
